Blinkit, Zepto, Swiggy Instamart, BigBasket BB Now, Flipkart Minutes and Amazon Now ran 8,241 dark stores in October 2026, up 388 from September 2026. JioMart also delivered from 2,613 Reliance Stores, counted separately. Stores were spread over 498 cities, 33 of them new since the previous report.

What stood out in October 2026
- Flipkart Minutes grew fastest, up 9.5% in a month to 1,202 stores. It is now only 94 stores behind Swiggy Instamart.
- Growth is spreading to smaller places. 33 cities and towns got their first dark store, and most of Blinkit’s new stores opened outside the big metros.

From October 2026, Amazon Now is in the dark-store total. The September 2026 total in the table adds Amazon Now’s September 2026 stores, so the change is like for like.

New stores, closures and new cities in October 2026
- Earlier reports count five.
- Blinkit added the most stores (+148 net), 88 of them outside the big metros.
- Flipkart Minutes added 104 net, about 40 of them in Delhi NCR.
- Zepto opened 64 and closed 2 (net +62); BigBasket opened 20 and closed 2 (net +18).
- 393 stores joined the count: 363 at the five apps also counted in September (351 of them seen for the first time) and 30 at Amazon Now. 5 stores closed, for a net gain of 388.
- Delhi gained the most stores of any city (32), then Bengaluru (29) and Hyderabad (20). Uttar Pradesh gained the most of any state (49).
- 174 of Amazon Now’s dark stores are partner More stores it uses as dark stores. Its first stores in Uttarakhand opened in Haridwar.
The new cities include Nalgonda, Ballia, Beawar, Shahdol, Guna, Tezpur, Godhra and Churu.

Fee changes, rules and company news in October 2026
- Company 1 Oct 2026. Amazon Now expanded to more than 120 cities.
- Market 7 Oct 2026. India’s quick-commerce market was worth about US$13 billion in FY26 and is expected to reach US$70–90 billion by FY31.
- Market 7 Oct 2026. About 28 million people in cities use quick-commerce apps, a number expected to rise to about 50 million. Festive-season quick-commerce sales are expected to rise 110% year on year.
- Fees 9 Oct 2026. JioMart’s app store listing promises free delivery on all categories.
