Our story
About DarkStoreTracker
We built DarkStoreTracker to answer a question the quick delivery apps never answer clearly: which of them can actually deliver to your home?
- 8,241dark stores mapped
- 498cities and towns
- 10,829stores by area and PIN
- 7quick delivery apps
How it started
It began at home. One of us would see “not serviceable” on an app while a friend a couple of streets away ordered from the same app without a problem. Fees and minimum orders seemed to change from one address to the next, and nobody could tell us why.
The reason turned out to be the dark store: a small warehouse, closed to shoppers, that serves only the homes within a few kilometres of it. The apps don’t publish where their stores are, and the totals in the news rarely agree. So we started mapping them ourselves, one city and one neighbourhood at a time.
When you want to know about quick delivery where you live, you should get a straight answer, with a date on it.
What we cover
-
Seven apps
Blinkit, Zepto, Swiggy Instamart, BigBasket BB Now, Flipkart Minutes and Amazon Now, which together run 8,241 dark stores. Amazon Now’s 853 include partner More stores it uses as dark stores. JioMart delivers from 2,613 Reliance Stores, which we count separately.
-
Every city with a store
Each of the 498 cities and towns has its own page showing which apps are there and in which areas. Find your city.
-
Your neighbourhood
Stores are grouped by area and PIN code, so you can see which ones sit near your home.
-
The bigger picture
National totals for dark stores in India, city and area rankings, and plain guides to delivery charges, jobs and the rules the apps follow.
How we work
We are a small, independent team. No quick delivery app, retailer, investor or brand owns or funds us, and nobody can pay for a better ranking. We don’t run ads or sponsored posts.
- Our counts are our own. The methodology explains how we count stores and where a count can go wrong.
- Company figures are labelled as company figures, with the date they were published.
- Every number carries a date, and estimates are always marked as estimates.
- We fix mistakes. When a reader spots an error and we confirm it, we correct the page. Our editorial policy sets out how.
Spotted something we should know?
Has a store opened, closed or moved near you, or does a number look wrong? Tell us and we’ll check it. Journalists will find figures ready to quote in our press kit.
We never call or message anyone, and we can’t help with orders, refunds, jobs or franchise applications for any app. For those, please contact the app directly.
