Delivery charges on Blinkit, Zepto, Instamart and other apps

Updated October 2026

Delivery charges on Blinkit and Instamart are ₹30 when your cart is under ₹199, plus 18% GST. The free delivery minimum runs from ₹99 to ₹299, depending on the app and the time of day.

On top of delivery, Blinkit adds a ₹4 handling fee and Instamart ₹9.8, and both add a small-cart fee under ₹99. Zepto has no handling or surge fee.

Apps change fees often and can show different fees to different users. Your checkout screen has the final amount.

Delivery fee, handling fee and other charges explained

Delivery fee
Charged when your cart is below the app’s free-delivery minimum.
Handling fee
A per-order charge for packing, shown as its own line.
Small-cart fee
An extra charge on very small carts, on top of the delivery fee.
Platform fee
A flat fee per order for using the app, separate from the handling fee. Zepto tested a ₹2 platform fee in 2024.
Surge, rain or late-night fee
Added at busy times, in bad weather or late at night.
Convenience fee (Bistro)
Bistro, Blinkit’s 10-minute food app, adds a ₹5 convenience fee. It shows only in the final bill at checkout.

GST on delivery charges

Fees count as a service, so 18% GST is added to each one: delivery, handling and rain fees alike. A ₹30 delivery fee becomes about ₹35, and Blinkit’s ₹4 handling fee about ₹4.70. Product prices already include GST.

How to read the fee breakdown at checkout

The bill summary sits under the item total on the checkout screen. It lists the item total, then each fee on its own line, then GST and the amount to pay. If the delivery line still shows an amount, most apps say how much more to add for free delivery.

How to avoid delivery and small-cart fees

  1. Combine your orders. Two ₹120 orders on Blinkit cost about ₹68 in fees. One ₹240 order costs ₹4 at most. Keep a list on your phone and add to it through the day.
  2. Stay above ₹99 on Blinkit and Instamart. Below that, a small-cart fee (₹20 or ₹15) lands on top of the ₹30 delivery fee.
  3. Pick the app by cart size. For a small top-up, use Flipkart Minutes or Amazon Now with Prime.
  4. Avoid rain and late-night hours on apps that add those fees.
  5. Remove anything pre-added. Look for a plan, tip or donation in the bill before you pay by UPI or card.

Frequently asked questions about delivery charges

Is the rider tip part of the delivery charge?

No. A tip is optional and separate from the delivery fee. Some apps suggest or pre-select a tip amount, so check the bill summary and change or remove it before you pay.

Why is my delivery fee different from my friend’s?

Apps set fees by area, time of day, weather and sometimes by user. Blinkit charges less in parts of Gurgaon, Bengaluru and Mumbai, and Zepto’s minimum rises at peak hours. A friend’s screenshot may come from a different area or hour.
